Gunfire Strikes Two Victims in Newark's West Ward

Police in Newark are investigating a double shooting that occurred on a Newark West Ward street on Tuesday night.

According to reports, gunfire erupted in the 400 block of South 16th Street at approximately 8:15 p.m. sending several police units to the scene where officers taped off the area and launched an investigation after finding two victims struck by bullets at that location.

While EMS transported the victims to University Hospital for treatment, police sent out an alert to neighboring municipalities to be on the lookout for a black newer model Infinity SUV that was occupied by several suspects who were armed with guns according to police.

The victims' injuries was not reported as life-threatening.

The motive into the shooting remains under investigation.
