An overnight shooting that occurred near a park in Newark sent a male to the hospital suffering severe injuries.
It happened in the 20's block of Stratford Place -at the Jesse Allen Park- just before 11:55 p.m. where police received reports of shots fired at that location.
According to preliminary reports, police arrived at the scene and found a male struck at least two times by bullets.
EMS transported the victim to University Hospital where doctors began treating for serious injuries. The victim is reportedly in stable condition.
Police have not released a motive for the shooting at this time.
The incident remains under investigation.
