Gunfire Rang Out in Newark's South Ward; Property Damage

Police in Newark conducted a shots fired investigation in a Newark South Ward neighborhood after a gunman fired multiple shots on Saturday afternoon.

Gunfire rang out just before 4 p.m. in the 100 block of Madison Avenue where units arrived at the scene and found several shell casings and bullets caused property damage at the location.

Newark Police were first alerted of the shooting by a ShotSpotter activation according to reports.

Police say suspects fled the scene in a dark-colored Charger the was last observed headed towards Irvine Turner Boulevard.

There were no injuries reported.
