Gunfire in Newark’s South Ward Neighborhood Prompts Children to Scramble for Cover

Newark Police are actively searching for a gunman after several shots were fired in the South Ward neighborhood this afternoon.

AdThe incident, which occurred around 3:02 p.m. on Friday, December 1, took place at the intersection of Clinton Place and St. James Place.

The sound of gunfire caused panic among children walking home from nearby schools, as they hurriedly sought cover.

Despite the frightening scene, responding officers found no victims at the location and there have been no reported injuries related to the incident.

Currently, the circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation, with the suspect still at large.

The Newark Police Department is urging anyone with information to come forward, as they continue to work towards ensuring the safety of the community and apprehending the individual responsible.
