The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office conducted a homicide investigation as detectives looked into the motive behind a shooting that killed a male in Hackensack Sunday morning.
According to preliminary reports, police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the 60's block of Grove Street just before 1:25 a.m.
Hackensack police officers arrived at the scene found a male victim lying on the ground and bleeding heavily from his chest after being shot at that location.
The unidentified victim was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.
Police canvassed the area for a black SUV with blue headlights that was observed leaving the scene immediately after the shooting.
The suspect remains at-large.
