Gunfire Erupts in Several Sections of Newark; Authorities Investigate

An investigation is underway into several shootings that erupted around the city overnight.

Police responded to reports of shots fired in the 200 block Custer Ave. shortly before 10 p.m. sending police to the scene where several shell casings were located.

A search of the area had no victims found.

Shortly before 11:30 p.m., multiple rounds of gunfire ragout in the area of 15th Ave. and Littleton Ave. shortly before 11:30 p.m. rushing police to the scene where about five shell casings were located, but no victim.

A crime scene was established at the scene.

Early morning gunfire rang out in the city's North Ward sending police to the 600 block of Summer Ave. shortly before 3:30 a.m.

Police arrived to the scene to find multiple rounds of gunfire struck a car and a house in the area. Police began a search for a blue 4-door vehicle (possibly an Accord) that was last seen leaving the area with blue head lights.

There were injuries reported in the Summer Ave. shooting.
