Gunfire Erupts in Newark's West Ward, Investigation Underway

Police in Newark's West Ward are looking for a gunman who fired several rounds in a section of the West Ward Friday evening. 

The incident occurred around 9:35 p.m. in the Fairmount section of the city.

Police were alerted when a ShotSpotter device detected gunshots in the area. Upon their arrival, officers discovered several shell casings at the scene.

However, despite a thorough canvassing of the neighborhood, no victims were located.

The suspected gunman managed to flee the scene and remains at large. As of now, police have not disclosed any potential motives behind the shooting.

An active investigation is underway to gather more information and piece together the events leading up to this alarming incident.
