Gunfire Erupts in Newark's South Ward

Police in Newark conducted a shots-shots fired investigation after gunmen fired multiple rounds on a street in the city's South Ward overnight.

According to police, a ShotSpotter activation indicated over a dozen rounds of gunfire in the vicinity of 32 Evergreen Avenue just before 8 p.m.

Police arrived at the scene found several shell casings near 25 Evergreen Avenue with vehicles struck by bullets according to authorities.

Officials believe that several suspects exchanged gunfire in the area before fleeing the scene.

Police say the latest shooting is a serious of shots fired events in the city with at least one person injured.
