Newark Police detectives are investgiating the motive behind a shooting that occurred at a housing complex in the city on Friday night.
According to police, gunfire erupted in the vicinity of 195 1st Street -The Garden Spires- at approximately 8:30 p.m. sending police to the scene where they found several shell casings but a search of the complex indicated no victims.
Police temporarily taped off a section of the complex to search for additional evidence according to reports.
Authorities are looking for a light-colored 2009 Acura MDX with a reported license plate number "H75-GPD" that was stolen out of Elizabeth and last seen in the area of the Garden Spires during the shooting.
The incident remains under investigation.
