One person was transported to an area hospital suffering non-gunshot injuries after a shooting erupted in a Newark South Ward community.
According to reports, residents in 189 Chadwick Avenue's vicinity contacted police after hearing gunfire in the area around 8:30 p.m.
Officers responded and found a shell casing, but bullets struck no one.
Police say the individual suffered a breathing problem and needed medical attention but does not appear to be involved with the incident.
The suspect fled the scene and remain at-large.
