Gunfire Erupts After Reported Carjacking in Newark's South Ward

Authorities in Newark are on the search several violent suspects who fired shots in the direction of the victim during a reported carjacking on Friday night in the city.

It happened in the South Ward community of Irving Turner Boulevard -the 500 block- at approximately 10:30 p.m. where reports of shots fired had officers on the scene according to preliminary reports.

Once police arrived at the scene, they immediately alerted officers around the city to be on the lookout for suspects occupying a maroon colored 2012 Chrysler 300 with a reported NJ license plate numbers "Z16-KTR" that was wanted for the shots fired investigation.

There were no physical injuries reported during the shooting and the suspects remain at-large.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
