Gun Battle Disturbs The Peace as Gunmen Fire Shots at Newark West Ward Housing Complex

Newark

Police detained as many as three suspects possibly responsible for a shots fired incident that transitioned into an all-out gun battle at a Newark West housing complex on Sunday evening.

There were no injuries immediately reported after multiple rounds of gunfire had residents and their children at Bradley Court scrambling for cover as several males, armed with rifles, began to fire shots at each other just before 8 p.m.

Newark West Ward Police officers raced to the 30's block of North Munn Avenue and immediately secured the scene after a ShotSpotter activation alerted them of gunfire at that location.

Police officers canvassing the scene for victims located multiple shell casings in the courtyard of the complex and authorities said one person walked into the precinct complaining that their vehicle was struck by bullets while passing through the area during the shooting.

The motive for the shooting has not been determined and the suspects have not been officially charged at this time.
