An armed robbery of a grocery store in Newark has police searching for a suspect.
Police responded to reports of an armed robbery in progress that occurred in the 1000 block of Bergen Street at Lehigh Avenue shortly before 3 p.m.
According to preliminary reports, arriving officers began a search for a black male suspect who entered the establishment wearing a mask and armed with a gun when he demanded cash from an employee.
The suspect was last observed wearing a gray hoodie, blue jeans, and a bookbag when he ran from the scene with several hundred dollars reports said.
There were no physical injuries reported.
