Grab That Jacket: Chilly Winds Kick Off a Cool Fall Morning in Newark

Newark

By: Richard L. Smith

My friends and family in Newark and much of North Jersey are waking up to a brisk and blustery start this morning, with cold winds reminding everyone that fall has fully arrived.

Good morning, and thanks for starting your day with RLS Media.

It’s currently 50 degrees along South Orange Avenue and Smith Street in Newark’s West Ward, but chilly breezes are making it feel closer to 42.

Temperatures are even colder further north, with Sparta at 37 degrees, West Milford at 35, Morristown at 41, and Prospect Park at 40.

It’s noticeably windy across the region, so a jacket — or even a warm coat — will be needed for anyone heading out early.

According to the National Weather Service, skies will gradually turn cloudy as the day progresses, with a high near 58 degrees.

West winds will range from 10 to 14 mph, with gusts reaching up to 30 mph, keeping the air crisp through the afternoon.

Tonight will be partly cloudy, with lows dipping to around 42 degrees.

Make it a great day, New Jersey.
