Police in Newark's North Ward are investigating a stabbing incident that sent a man to the hospital early Sunday morning.
A preliminary investigation indicated police were dispatched to the 700 block of Mt. Prospect Avenue after receiving reports of an injured person shortly before 1:30 a.m.
Upon arrival, police found a male suffering a stab injury in his chest during an altercation that he reportedly attempted to engage in and help the victim.
He was rushed to University Hospital for treatment, and his condition has only been updated as serious.
One other person suffered non-life threatening injuries during the incident, according to rperots.
Police announced an arrest at this time.
