According to the National Weather Service, the region is set to enjoy a beautiful day as Easter weekend begins.

While early risers in parts of North Jersey, including Morris, Sussex, and Passaic counties, experienced temperatures near or just above freezing around 4:30 a.m., the morning chill is expected to quickly dissipate.

NWS meteorologists say skies will be mostly sunny throughout the day, and afternoon highs are forecast to reach the lower 70s across much of the region.

A light south wind will gradually increase to 12 to 17 mph by mid-morning, adding a gentle breeze to the springlike atmosphere.

Tonight, skies will become mostly cloudy, with temperatures staying mild and a low around 57 degrees.
