A violent robbery that turned into and assault on a gas station attendant in Hamilton is under investigation by police.
The incident was reported at a gas station that is located in the 1700 block of Greenwood Avenue shortly before 8:30 p.m.
According to initial reports, police were called to the scene to investigate an armed robbery in progress where they arrived to find a male victim -who was later identified as an attendant- injured to the face and pepper sprayed by a male suspect who reached the establishment and announced the robbery.
The suspect had taken an undetermined amount of cash before he ran from the scene.
EMS arrived at the scene to treat the victim for a laceration to the mouth.
Police are searching for the suspect.
