A Garwood teenager accused in the deaths of two juvenile girls following a fatal crash in Cranford will now face prosecution as an adult, Union County officials announced Friday.

Vincent Battiloro, 18, whose identity had previously been withheld because he was a juvenile at the time of the incident, has been waived to adult court and is charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
The charges stem from a September 29, 2025, crash on Burnside Avenue in Cranford.
At approximately 5:26 p.m., Cranford police responded to reports that two juvenile females riding an electric bicycle had been struck by a motor vehicle.
Both victims were rushed to nearby hospitals, where they later died from their injuries.
Authorities said the decision to prosecute Battiloro as an adult follows what investigators described as a comprehensive and extensive investigation conducted by the Union County Prosecutor’s Office and the Cranford Police Department.
The case will now move forward in the Criminal Part of the Superior Court of New Jersey in Union County, where Battiloro will stand trial as an adult.
Officials have not released additional information regarding the investigation or the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.
