Police in Garfield are searching for a vehicle that was reported stolen Friday evening, authorities said.
Shortly before 6 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Palisades Avenue after receiving reports of a stolen vehicle at that location.
When police and detectives arrived, they learned that the vehicle had been taken with the keys left inside.
The stolen vehicle is described as a black BMW X5 bearing New Jersey license plate M24-VBS. Investigators believe the vehicle was taken approximately 30 minutes before the report was made.
According to police, tracking information indicated that the vehicle was later pinging in Newark.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
