A car that crashed then overturned on the Garden State Parkway this afternoon had one person airlifted to the hospital suffering severe injuries.
It happened in the northbound lanes of the highway near exit 131 in Woodbridge just after 12:30 p.m. where emergency responders rushed to the scene to find a vehicle overturned in the center lane.
A medivac helicopter was ordered to that location where it landed on the highway forcing police to close all northbound lanes for the investigation.
The victim was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital where doctors treated their injuries.
State Police closed the highway for over an hour to conduct the crash investigation.
