Galloway Man Arrested, Charged for Armed Robbery in Clifton

Clifton

Police have arrested and charged a Galloway man in connection with an armed robbery and aggravated assault that occurred in a cab in Clifton on Monday morning.

According to police, early yesterday morning, at approximately 4:00 a.m., a taxi cab driver was in the process of conveying an individual from Manhattan to Montclair.

While en route and in the vicinity of Route 3 Westbound in Clifton, the passenger convinced the driver to open the divider. After the driver obliged, the passenger produced a box cutter and demanded the driver's cellular phone and cash.

When the driver refused to comply, the passenger began to stab and slash the driver multiple times about the shoulder, back, and chest. This action caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle.

The vehicle then overturned several times while traveling at highway speeds - before eventually coming to rest near the wooded area on the side of the roadway.

At this time, the passenger exited the vehicle and fled the scene. A short time later, officers responded to the CVS on Bloomfield Avenue on the report of an injured party who walked into the business's storage room.

After arriving and investigating further, officers determined that the individual located inside the CVS was in fact the suspect from the taxi cab robbery. As a result, the individual was placed under arrest and conveyed to the hospital for medical treatment.

While this was occurring, police and fire personnel tended to the injuries of the driver, who was also conveyed to the hospital for injuries stemming from the attack and motor vehicle accident.

The suspect, later identified as Jordan White, 20, of Galloway. He was charged with Aggravated Assault, Armed Robbery, and multiple weapons offenses.

As of this time, both the suspect and victim have been released from the hospital.
