Fuel Spill Closes Route 9 Following NJ Crash

New Jersey Malboro Township

A tanker truck crash involving a fuel spill forced Marlboro businesses to be evacuated Friday morning.

According to authorities, police responded to Route 520 near the Marlboro Commons and Marlboro Plaza shopping centers for a report of a crash involving a tanker truck.

Upon arrival, police found the tanker on its side on Route 9 partially blocking the northbound lanes.

Officials say the crash caused traffic delays after vehicles were detoured around the crash. In addition, local businesses were evacuated as a result of the oil spill.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
