Newark

Good morning and Happy Friday, New Jersey!

As
As we close out the workweek, residents in Newark and the North Jersey region are starting the day with warm temperatures and lighter humidity than earlier in the week.

At 4:30 a.m., it was already 77 degrees at the corner of Broad and Halsey Streets in downtown Newark, with commuters catching the early bus or train feeling the sticky remnants of the week’s heat wave.

But there's some relief on the horizon.

According to the National Weather Service, today will bring mostly sunny skies and a high near 88 degrees.

While still warm, the air is expected to feel a little less oppressive thanks to lower humidity levels.

A light north wind will shift southeast later in the day, helping to keep the breeze flowing.

Tonight, skies will become increasingly cloudy, with a low around 70 degrees—setting the stage for a calm and mild evening across the region.
