A woman from Franklin Township was killed Wednesday night after being struck by a vehicle while crossing a roadway, authorities said.
According to information released by the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office, the crash occurred at approximately 8:35 p.m. on July 15 on Hamilton Street near Francis Street in Franklin Township.
Investigators said the woman was crossing Hamilton Street when she was struck by a Toyota Corolla. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released her identity.
The driver of the Toyota Corolla was not injured.
The Somerset County Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team, the Franklin Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Bureau, and investigators from the Northern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene to investigate.
The investigation remains active as officials work to determine the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
