Authorities today announced that four individuals, including two juveniles, have been arrest and charged in connection to the Mother's Day shooting that killed a 15-year-old Newark boy and injured three others.
Authorities have identified the suspects as Jaqeuce Spinks, 19, of Newark, who has been charged with murder, possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for unlawfully purpose. Marquise Cephus, 18, of Newark, was also charged with possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for unlawfully purpose.
In addition to the two adults, two juveniles, ages 16 and 17, have also been charged and taken into custody. The 16-year-old from Newark, has been charged with murder and weapon offenses. The 17-year-old, also from Newark, was charged with possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for unlawfully purpose.
On May 10, officers patrolling at the "Blessing of the Bikes" festival on Springfield Ave. were attempting to disperse a crowd that began to linger on 19th Ave., about an hour after the festival had concluded when shots rang out striking and claiming the life of Shakeen Woodson, 15, of Newark.
Three other people were injured during the shootings.
According to officials, the shooting was a result of a high school dispute.
