Former Pleasantville Housing Authority Employee Sentenced After Pleading Guilty to Theft

Pleasantville

A property manager, formerly employed by the Pleasantville Housing Authority, was sentenced on Friday after pleading guilty in June to Theft by Failure to Make Required Disposition Only, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner announced.

Cheryl Bradshaw, 60, was sentenced before Judge Patricia Wild to probation of three years, permanent forfeiture of public employment and restitution of $740 to eight victims.

On April 19, 2017, detectives of the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Official Corruption Unit arrested Bradshaw of Marmora Avenue, Atlantic City, and she was charged with Official Misconduct and Theft by Failure to Make Required Disposition of Property Received.

The State alleged Bradshaw, acting in her capacity as property manager of the Barlinvis Apartments in Atlantic City, cashed 13 checks intended for 9 tenants of Barlinvis Apartments from funds provided by the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to offset the cost of utilities, and kept the money for her own personal use.

The total value of the checks was $826.00.

The State also alleged Bradshaw stole property of the Atlantic County Improvement Authority—a toilet seat valued at $9.39, and had the seat installed in her own residence. The Pleasantville Housing Authority terminated Bradshaw’s employment on February 2, 2017.

Bradshaw had pleaded guilty before Judge Wild in June. The plea agreement called for probation, restitution to all victims and permanent public employment forfeiture.
