Foot Pursuit Ends in Arrest of Overnight Jersey City Stabbing Suspect

Police sprinted behind a suspect wanted for a stabbing that left one person injured in Jersey City during the overnight hours.

Details regarding the incident are pending an official police statement, but according to preliminary reports, officials at the Jersey City Medical Center contacted police when a male victim entered the emergency department suffering what was believed as a gunshot injury at approximately midnight.

According to reports, police arrived at the hospital and was told by the victim that the incident happened outside of Brenda's Bar located in 200 block of Ocean Avenue where officers were given a description of the suspect.

Police officers arrived at the scene and reportedly found a suspect fitting the description then attempted to investigate when the suspect began to run from officers.

Officers caught the suspect after foot pursuit where the suspect allegedly disregarded a weapon during the chase.

Doctors working on the victim determined that the injury was not a gunshot wound but a stab injury that is believed to be non-life threatening.

The incident remains under investigation by Jersey City Police.
