Police took an unidentified man into custody and charged him with burglarizing several vehicles in Newark.
According to reports, police initially responded to reports of a person with a weapon in the 200 block of Irvine Turner Boulevard just before 3:10 p.m. on Sunday.
Fast responding Newark South Ward officers arrived in the area and observed a male fitting the description of the suspects who witnesses say wore all black clothing.
Officers attempted to question the suspect when he ran from officers while heavy rain occurred in the area according to reports.
Police were able to catch the suspect a short distance a way, but after a search of the area, officers did not report finding a gun.
