Prosecutor Robertson stated that members of the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Organized Crime and Narcotics Task Force along with members of the Hackensack Police Department and the United States Postal Inspection Service were conducting a narcotic investigation into suspicious packages being shipped from California to South Bound Brook and Annandale.

Police said in May of 2020, Victor I. Chihimie was stopped by members of the Hackensack Police Department for a traffic violation and found to be in possession of a quantity of Marijuana and THC cartridges.

A search of the vehicle revealed one (1) five (5) gallon black bucket containing three (3) large clear plastic vacuum sealed bags containing Marijuana.

Hackensack Police Department’s investigation revealed that Victor I. Chihimie was receiving multiple suspicious packages to a residence on Edgewood Terrace in South Bound Brook.

Authorities contacted the United States Postal Inspection Service to request assistance with the investigation.

Their investigation revealed that since July of 2019, eighteen (18) suspicious packages had been shipped from California to Edgewood Terrace in South Bound Brook.

The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Organized Crime and Narcotics Task Force were contacted to assist in the investigation. Subsequently two (2) suspicious packages were intercepted by the United States Postal Inspection Service.

The investigation revealed that since December of 2019, eight (8) suspicious packages were mailed to the residence on Perry Road in Annandale.

Bound Brook Police Department K-9 “Crusader” conducted an exterior sniff of the two (2) suspicious packages intercepted and gave a positive indication for the presence of narcotics. Subsequently, the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Organized Crime and Narcotics Task Force presented all the probable cause/evidence to the Somerset County Superior Court.

As a result, two Anticipatory Search Warrants were applied for and granted for the two (2) suspicious packages as well as the residences on Edgewood Terrace and Perry Road.
