A coordinated narcotics enforcement operation led by multiple law enforcement agencies resulted in the arrest of five individuals and the seizure of more than two kilograms of cocaine, Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel and Plainfield Police Director James T. Abney announced Thursday.
The operation, executed on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, stemmed from a long-term investigation into a cocaine distribution network operating throughout Union County, particularly in Plainfield and nearby communities.

Authorities said the effort led to the seizure of approximately 2,200 grams of cocaine and $6,327 in cash.
“This successful operation is a testament to the power of inter-agency cooperation,” Prosecutor Daniel stated.
Arrests and Charges
• William Padilla, 52, of Greenbrook – Charged with first-degree possession with intent to distribute controlled dangerous substances, first-degree maintaining or operating a controlled substance production facility, third-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and third-degree conspiracy to distribute.
• Alexandra Tapia-Garzon, 54, of Greenbrook – Charged with the same first- and third-degree offenses as Padilla.
• Anthony M. Padilla, 24, of Greenbrook – Also faces first-degree distribution and production charges, along with third-degree possession and conspiracy.
• Jose Redonde-Castro, 39, of North Plainfield – Charged with third-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
• Alejandro Polanco-Grijalva, 43, of North Plainfield – Charged with third-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
Prosecutor Daniel said the arrests reflect law enforcement’s ongoing commitment to targeting high-level drug activity and protecting Union County residents from the violence and harm often associated with narcotics trafficking.

The investigation remains active.
