Firefighters Quickly Contain Blaze at Plainfield Rooming House

Firefighters responded to a structure fire at a rooming house in Plainfield Saturday night, bringing the situation under control without reported injuries.
 

According to preliminary information, crews were dispatched to the 600 block of West Front Street just before 10:00 p.m. after multiple calls reported a fire inside a residential building.

 

Upon arrival, firefighters encountered smoke coming from the structure and stretched several hose lines to attack the fire. 

 

Crews worked quickly to evacuate occupants from the rooming house before locating the seat of the fire and extinguishing it.

 

No injuries were immediately reported.

 

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
