Firefighters Injured Battling Irvington Building Fire

Irvington Township

Two firefighters suffered non-life threatening injuries while battling a fire that ripped through a house in Irvington Township Friday evening.

Firefighters were dispatched to 69 Berkely Terrace after calls came into headquarters that a house was burning at that location.

Crews arrived at the scene and found thick smoke and fire coming from the two-story house just before 5:30 p.m.

Firefighters were able to make entry inside the structure after beating down flames that began to extend but cause no severe damage to neighboring homes.

EMS transported the firefighters so an area hospital where they are expected to be ok.

A search of the house for trapped or injured occupants came back negative. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by Irvington Township Fire Officials.
