Firefighters Battle Blaze Inside Newark Abandoned House

Firefighters in Newark tacked an early morning fire that ignited inside an abandoned house in the city Monday morning.

Fire officials received several 911 calls reporting fire at 15 Cypress Street shortly before 2:35 a.m.

Crews arrived and found a two-and-a-half-story wood-framed house fully engulfed in flames.

Firefighters stretched several lines where they entered the burning building and found the seat of the fire.

The fire was knocked down in under an hour with a search of the structures indicated no trapped or injured occupants.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
