Two firefighters suffered non-life threatening injuries while fighting a fire that ignited inside a house in Newark on Saturday night.
Heavy fire broke out inside a vacant two and a half story house located at 229 North 6th Street just before 11 p.m. sending crews to the scene where they observed flames tearing through the wood-framed house.
As firefighters beat back flames, fire began to extend to a neighboring house that was occupied according to reports.
Firefighters were abe to gain control of the fire in about an hour where they performed a search of both structured for trapped and injured occupants.
There were no injured residents according to officials.
The cause of the fire remains under investiatt8on.
