An overnight house fire in Irvington Township left one firefighter injured and approximately 20 residents displaced early Monday morning, according to officials. The blaze broke out around 1 a.m. on Howard Street near Clinton Avenue. When firefighters arrived, they encountered heavy smoke and flames pouring from a two-and-a-half-story wood-framed home. Crews quickly stretched multiple lines and entered the structure to battle the growing fire, which had extended from the first floor to parts of the second. Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control in under 25 minutes. During the operation, one firefighter sustained non-life-threatening injuries. A thorough search of the building confirmed that no other injuries were reported. Roughly 20 residents were displaced due to the fire. The American Red Cross responded to assist those affected, providing temporary shelter and resources. The cause of the fire remains under active investigation.
