Authorities announced the arrest of a city firefighter who they say killed a man Monday.
According to police director Jerry Police charged 30-year-old Kaheem Hunt, with the murder of Juan Martinez, 39, of Paterson.
Emergency responders found Martinez shot and seriously injured Monday afternoon in the area of Madison and Essex Streets.
EMS transported Martinez to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries, according to police.
Authorities charged Hunt with conspiracy to commit murder, murder, and two weapons offenses.
Fire Chief Michael Postorino suspended Hunt without pay.
The investigation into the shooting remains ongoing.
