Fire Rips Through House in Paterson

Fire officials are investigating a fire that destroyed a house in Paterson on Saturday morning.

According to officials, Paterson firefighters responded to 662 East 22nd Street for a reported fire.

Units arrived at the scene observed heavy fire venting from a second floor and attic of a vacant 2.5 story home. Officials at the scene quickly transmitted a second alarm as the fire extended to the bravo exposure side of the building and a similar style neighboring occupied two and a half-story framed house.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire in the exposure building swiftly, however, heavy fire consumed the attic of the main fire building.

Officials triggered a third alarm that evacuated all firefighters from the main fire building, and the fire was knocked down from the exterior.

Officials placed the blaze under control with no injuries reported in about an hour.
