Firefighters in East Orange rushed to the scene of a fierce multi-alarm blaze that tore through a home early Friday morning, leaving at least one person injured and prompting an intense rescue effort.

The fire broke out around 2:45 a.m. at 140 South Munn Avenue, where crews arrived to find flames engulfing a two-and-a-half-story house.
Flames were already visible from the exterior, and early reports indicated that individuals were possibly trapped inside the residence.
Firefighters immediately stretched multiple lines to begin attacking the flames and then made a brave entry into the structure.
During their search, crews located at least one victim. That individual was rescued from inside the home, though their condition has not yet been publicly disclosed.
While the second and third floors were brought under control relatively quickly, firefighters faced stubborn hot spots believed to be concentrated in the upper areas of the structure.
Crews remained on the scene for an extended period to fully extinguish the lingering fire.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation by fire officials. Updates regarding the victim’s condition are expected later today.
Residents nearby were urged to stay clear of the area as emergency crews continued their work. Fortunately, no serious injuries to firefighters were reported during the operation.
