Fire Rips Through Babyland Nursery School in Newark's West Ward

Newark fire officials are looking at the cause of a fire that destroyed a nursery school in the city's West Ward on Friday night.

According to a preliminary investigation, firefighters raced to Babyland Nursery Services located at 755 South Orange Avenue at approximately 9 p.m.

When crews arrived, they found heavy smoke coming from the building and began to search for the seat of the blaze according to reports.

Firefighters stretched several lines when they entered into the structure and found flames beginning to engulf the building.

Offcials say fire began to shoot through the roof, causing a portion of the structure to collapse.
