Officials are investigating a fire that broke out Friday evening at Piner Elementary School in Lakewood, authorities said.
According to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer, emergency crews were called to the school on East County Line Road around 7:30 p.m. on October 3, 2025.
When Lakewood police and firefighters arrived, they found an active blaze inside the building.
Firefighters were able to bring the flames under control and extinguish the fire. No injuries were reported.
The cause and origin of the blaze remain under investigation.
Agencies involved include the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit-Arson Squad, the Lakewood Township Police Department Detective Bureau, the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, and the New Jersey State Fire Marshal’s Office.
