Fire Kills Man in West Milford House

Authorities in Passaic County have announced that at approximately 9:11 a.m. Sunday, members of the West Milford Township Fire Department and the West Milford Township Police Department responded to 58 Tintle Avenue on the report of a working fire.

Upon their arrival, they encountered a single-family, residential structure on fire.

Authorities said the only person in the home at the time of the fire, was tenant Mr. Edward Rossi, 51, who EMS rushed to Chilton Hospital in Pequannock where he was pronounced deceased.

Authorities said no one else lived in the home.

The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes-Arson Unit, along with members of the West Milford Township Fire Marshals Office, the Passaic County Sheriff’s Department and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department Canine Unit responded to the scene to assist in the investigation that is still active and ongoing.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.
