Fire Erupts in Newark Ironbound Vacant House

There were no injuries reported in a late-night fire that damaged a vacant house in Newark's East Ward Wednesday.

Fire broke out inside a three-story wood-framed house located at 648 Ferry Street just before 11:50 p.m.

Crews arrived at the scene found the structure fully involved in flames and extending to two other structures at that location.

Officials say caution was used while fighting the blaze in the main fire building after they found holes in the floors of the house, posing a safety risk for firefighters.

Crews were able to get the fire under control in under an hour with the cause under investigation.

There were no injuries reported.
