Fire officials in Paterson are investigating a fire that occurred late Monday night inside a vacant house on Lafayette Street.

Around 10:10 p.m., the Paterson Fire Department received several 911 calls reporting a fire inside the two-and-a-half-story house located at 184 Lafayette Street. First responders arrived swiftly, encountering heavy flames emanating from the second floor.

At the scene, fire officials decided to strike a second alarm to summon additional manpower.

Firefighters already on site quickly deployed multiple lines to combat the fire. However, the intensity of the blaze caused it to extend to the third floor.
