Female Jogger Attacked in South Plainfield

Middlesex County Acting Prosecutor Christopher L.C. Kuberiet and Chief James Parker of the South Plainfield Police Department said that authorities are actively searching for a suspect after an attack on a female jogger in the area of Franklin Avenue and Thornton Court on September 23, at approximately 7:20pm.

Officials say the suspect is described as a light-skinned black man, approximately 25 years old, clean shaven, wearing a dark dress shirt, dark dress pants, and white ear buds in his ears.

It is believed that the suspect ranges from 5-feet-5-inches to 5-feet-7-inches in height and weighs approximately 160 pounds with an athletic build. He was last seen running westbound on Franklin Avenue.

Acting Prosecutor Kuberiet and Police Chief Parker are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying and locating this man.

They are asking anyone with information to contact the South Plainfield Police Department Criminal Investigations Division at (908) 226-7660 or (908) 226-7662, or Detective Ryan Tighe of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office at (732) 745-3287.

The police are also asking for any residents with security cameras to check the footage during this time period, since portions of the incident may have been captured on film.

Anyone wishing to remain anonymous can contact Crime Stoppers of Middlesex County, Inc., a non-profit organization that partners with law enforcement to enable the public to anonymously submit crime information and will pay a cash reward should it lead to an arrest.
