Fatality in Wrong-Way Crash Identified as West Orange Man

Authorities in New York have identified the driver struck and killed by a woman accused of driving drunk on Interstate 81 Friday.

Bruce Ham, 58, of West Orange was driving south on I-81 sometime around 3:17 a.m. Friday when a Ford Escape SUV traveling against traffic struck his vehicle head-on.

According to officials, Ham was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after.

The driver of the SUV, later identified as 32-year-old Amy Dell, was transported to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse with minor injuries. She was later taken into custody, police said.

Dell was charged with intoxicated, first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and second-degree vehicular manslaughter.

Her bail was set at $500,000 or $1 million bond. She is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
