Fatal Train-Pedestrian Incident Under Investigation in Morris County

New Jersey Transit officials have launched an investigation following a tragic incident where a pedestrian was fatally struck by a train in Morris County on Wednesday evening.Ad The incident occurred around 6:10 p.m. when Morris & Essex Line train number 6666, which had left Dover at 5:50 p.m. and was due to arrive at Penn Station, New York, at 7:14 p.m., collided with a pedestrian just west of the Morristown station.

The pedestrian sustained fatal injuries in the collision.

Officials said none of the approximately 30 passengers or crew aboard the train reported any injuries.

The incident caused a temporary suspension of the Morris & Essex line rail service in both directions between Dover and Summit. However, services have since resumed.AdNew Jersey Transit police have taken the lead in the ongoing investigation. The details surrounding the circumstances of the incident are yet to be fully understood.

The authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased, pending notification of next of kin.

New Jersey Transit is working closely with law enforcement to understand the sequence of events leading up to the tragedy and to prevent such incidents in the future.
