Authorities in Essex County are investigating a shooting that left at least one person dead in Irvington Township overnight.
Police were called to the vicinity of Ellis Street and Springfield Avenue at approximately 12:45 a.m. to investigating reports of shots fired.
Officers arrived at the scene, secured the area and began a crime scene after finding a male suffering multiple bullet wounds at that location. Police are attempting to determine if several other people who reported injuries were struck by gunfire.
The Essex County Prosecutor's Office has taken over the investigation and are not reporting any arrests at this time.
