Fatal Pedestrian Strike on Garden State Parkway Under Investigation

An ongoing investigation is underway into a tragic pedestrian strike that resulted in fatal injuries on the Garden State Parkway in Essex County.

The incident happened late Monday night near exit 143 in Irvington.

A preliminary investigation indicated that around 10 p.m., New Jersey State Police were dispatched to the scene following reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.

Upon arrival, authorities found an unidentified individual lying on the ground, suffering from severe injuries sustained during the collision.

Tragically, despite the efforts of first responders, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident led to temporary delays on the highway as state troopers initiated their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.

At this time, authorities are working to determine the details of the incident, including the identity of the victim and the events leading up to the collision.
