Fatal NJ Transit Train Strike Reported in Woodbridge

NJ Transit authorities are investigating a train strike that killed a person in Woodbridge Township overnight.

The incident happened before 1 a.m. near the train station where police and rescue crews were called to the scene for a person struck by a train according to initial reports at the scene.

Crews arrived to find an unconscious, unresponsive, and unidentified victim struck on the North Jersey Coast Line tracks.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene reports said.

The fatal strike caused service to be suspended between Rahway and South Amboy stations.

The identity of the victim and what caused the fatal strike has not been released at this time.

There were no passengers on the train, according to officials.
