Fatal Injuries Reported in Pedestrian Strike on NJ Turnpike in Edison

Officials are reporting fatal injuries for one person struck by a vehicle on the NJ Turnpike early Monday morning in Edison.

According to a preliminary investigation, the incident occurred in the northbound inner lanes of the NJ Turnpike around 3:20 a.m.

Police say when emergency responders arrived at the scene, they found an unidentified person lying on the highway suffering a severe head injury at that location.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene according to the preliminary investigation.

NJ State Police closed the left and center lanes for the investigation.

Police have not released the identity of the victim at this time.
